Private Tutoring Policies Minimize

Private Instruction / Tutoring
Private instruction at MEI is provided according to the needs of each student.

Languages

Tutoring is offered for Arabic, Dari, Hebrew, Pashto, Persian, Turkish, and Urdu. Modern Standard Arabic as well as a variety of Arabic dialects are offered. Private instruction may be arranged for course credit if the nature of the training meets accreditation requirements, such as following a syllabus with regular assessment of progress in the language.

Tutoring costs $45/hr for students paying out of pocket. For those whose employer/educational institution is covering the cost, the price is $55/hr. Payment needs to be received for every session prior to its commencement.

Session length needs to be at least 1.5 hours if not 2 hours to make commuting worthwhile for instructors and to facilitate achievement of learning goals.

Refunds of Unused Tutoring Balance (Applies to all tutoring hours registered for/purchased after May 20, 2010)
If a student decides to discontinue private tutoring and is not able to continue with MEI, the following policy applies:

10% of the remaining (unused) amount is held by MEI as a cancelation fee and is not refundable.

This means that if, for example, a student has $450 remaining of tutoring money paid for (purchased at the rate of $45/hr), s/he will be eligible to receive a refund of $405.

About Rollovers Minimize

It was a practice in the past for students to roll unused tuition over to a future term. This practice was discontinued in 2008 and has not been reinstituted. Thus, there is no option to roll over tuition that is unused to a future term. All students who withdraw within the time frames provided above are eligible for the partial refunds that correspond to their time of withdrawal. Any Rollovers that were granted when the Department was issuing them will, of course, be honored.
