Dr. Jackie Armijo is Associate Professor at Qatar University, where she teaches courses on China and on Global Issues. Her research interests include Islam in China, both early history and present situation; the recent revival of Islamic education within China and the growing impact of Chinese Muslim students studying at international centers of Islamic learning; the growing importance of China-Gulf relations and their potential social, political, economic and strategic impacts; and Gender and Islam, with a focus on Muslim women living outside of the Middle East. Dr. Armijo earned her PhD in Inner Asian and Altaic Studies from Harvard University.
