Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Development Operations Manager is responsible for managing organizational development processes to increase fundraising activity. Key responsibilities include the management of Salesforce and other CRM-related platforms, including donor demographic information, gift records, and pertinent data. Additionally, the Development Operations Manager is responsible for generating reports, queries, and mailing lists, and overseeing various fundraising-related initiatives, including policy development, donor stewardship, research and prospecting systems, and pipeline development.

This position also serves as a bridge between the Development and Finance teams for corporate, individual, foundation, and government donations, ensuring seamless collaboration and optimized processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees overall management of CRM, including collaboration with internal constituents, to ensure Salesforce is used to its highest potential to drive fundraising results.

  • Assume ownership of maintaining the integrity and accuracy of donor data within the CRM system, implementing protocols and standards for data entry, validation, and maintenance.

  • Develops and manages the internal systems of prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with a strong emphasis on prospecting, portfolio management, and tracking of proposals and goals.

  • Regularly review and update prospect management processes to adapt to evolving fundraising priorities and donor engagement strategies

  • Regularly conduct data and quality checks to identify and rectify discrepancies, ensuring the reliability and usability of donor information for fundraising efforts.

  • Oversees donor stewardship program and provides vision to ensure the systems, processes, and workflows to effectively steward donors across all areas of giving.

  • Collaborate with Communications teams to develop personalized stewardship strategies and initiatives that cultivate meaningful relationships with donors and inspire continued support

  • Track and report on fundraising progress, donor trends, and campaign performance, and present this information regularly to MEI Senior Leadership and Board of Governors.

  • Identify donor segments that are underperforming where additional capacity for boosting fundraising exists and advocate within the Development Team for efforts to drive revenue in those areas.

  • Oversees and coordinates gift processing and donor acknowledgment, and partners with the Finance Department to reconcile gifts monthly.

  • Support all fundraising and development initiatives and perform other duties as assigned or required.

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports the Chief Development Officer, while working closely with the other members of the Development, Finance, and Administrative team. Management of junior fundraising staff, if any. Supervises the Development Administrator.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or related field.

  • Excellent knowledge and minimum 2 years experience working at a nonprofit organization in a fundraising office with an understanding of donor cultivation and solicitation.

  • Experience with Salesforce and data analysis is required.

  • Effective communication skills, particularly in drafting written policies and communications to donors and stakeholders

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve fundraising goals.

  • Strong command of modern technology (MS Office, Google Drive, Zoom, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while functioning effectively as part of a team.
