As a joint initiative between the Middle East Institute, the Atlantic Council and the European Institute of Peace, the Syria Strategy Project (SSP) has sought to bridge gaps between the U.S., Europe and regional states, to coalesce behind a shared approach to helping support Syria onto a path towards a more peaceful and prosperous future. Over the past year, the SSP has worked intensively with over 100 subject matter experts, a broad spectrum of Syrian stakeholders, and the international community to shape a realistic and holistic vision for Syria policy.
Following on from extensive consultations during a fieldwork visit across Syria in February 2025, the SSP team is proud to present the outcomes of its first year of work. Since the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, a window of opportunity has been opened for much of the SSP’s work to be realized – but enormous challenges remain. If Syria is to tread a path of recovery, the international community must be on the same page, working together to help realize the opportunity now on the table.
This event will be held at the Middle East Institute's Headquarters, located at 1763 N St NW, Washington, D.C., 20036. There will also be a virtual option for those who cannot join us in person.
