Jonathan “Jonny” Gannon retired during the summer of 2025 as a senior executive at CIA. Originally an operative, he has over 26 years of experience navigating national security challenges and building relationships in the Middle East, Southeast and Southwest Asia, Europe, and Washington, D.C.
He served multiple times as a Chief of Station overseas, and led large, multidisciplinary teams in Washington, DC that were charged with solving problems and presenting options related to regional stability; emerging and disruptive technologies; cybersecurity; counterterrorism; hostage negotiations; and, war and humanitarian crises.
During his career, Jonny was the recipient of the OSS Donavan Medal and Award for excellence in operations; the Intelligence Medal of Merit; and the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal.
Today, Jonny is a leader and advisor in private intelligence. He is also a speaker and writer. He is a member of the US-UAE Business Council. He is considered an expert in strategic communications and risk management.
Jonny is married with two sons.
