Pia Wanek is Director of Humanitarian Assistance for Global Communities, an international development and humanitarian organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable. Global Communities has worked in Gaza continuously for 20 years and works across the Middle East and North Africa region, in Egypt, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq, and with refugee populations from the Syria conflict.
Israel’s ground offensive against the Gaza Strip will make already dire humanitarian conditions for Palestinians there much worse.
