Daniel Sobelman is Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s International Relations Department and a former Arab affairs correspondent for the Israeli daily Haaretz. He is also a Faculty Affiliate with the Middle East Initiative at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.

Dr. Sobelman’s research lies in the intersection of asymmetric conflicts, deterrence strategy, and contemporary Middle East conflicts. A long-time scholar of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, his current research looks at the regional diffusion of Hezbollah’s influence and the evolution of the Iran-led Axis of Resistance. His book Axis of Resistance Asymmetric Deterrence and Rules of the Game in Contemporary Middle East Conflicts is forthcoming with State University of New York Press.
