Strachota is a Non-Resident Scholar with the Middle East Institute’s Black Sea Program. He’s the head of the Turkey, Caucasus and Central Asia Department (since 2001) of the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW) in Warsaw, Poland. He has previously led OSW’s research programs on Islam in the post-Soviet area, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kurdish issues, and lately China and Israel. He’s the author of numerous analytical reports and articles published mainly with OSW, but also with other Polish and international think-tanks. He’s also author of reportages for Polish press, and a frequent media commentator. Krzysztof Strachota is lecturer at the Centre for East European Studies, University of Warsaw, where he teaches the history of Central Asia and leads analytical workshops.
