
Marie Forestier is a Senior Advisor on Syria at the European Institute of Peace. She provides strategic policy advice to diplomats and international stakeholders on the Syrian political process and is the co-director of the Syria Strategy Project. Marie is a policy analyst and a researcher with over a decade of experience in conflict-affected countries in the Middle East and Central Asia. In her previous work with international organizations and NGOs, Marie researched human rights issues and the gender impact of counterterrorism policies in Syria and Iraq, and she developed gender analyses and policy recommendations in order to increase women’s participation in peace processes in Syria and Yemen. Marie was a visiting fellow at the Center for Women Peace and Security of the London School of Economics in 2016, focusing on sexual violence against Syrian women.
