The Middle East Institute (MEI) seeks a Drupal developer for a part-time, contractual position maintaining the Institute’s website, ensuring site security through regular updates and backups, and assisting staff in the development of new website features.

About the Job

  • Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and backup/recovery for two websites running on Drupal 7 and 8
  • Maintain hosting environment (Linode/Akamai)
  • Respond quickly to emergencies such as site outages, problems with hosting or DNS, or other server issues
  • Perform Drupal security upgrades as needed

Key Skills

  • Strong familiarity with Drupal
  • Experience with the core technologies in our development environment: PHP, JS/jQuery, CSS/Sass, Git, SSH, Solr
  • Experience debugging custom Drupal modules
  • Great communication skills, especially with those who are not as technologically savvy
  • A good understanding of UX design principles and front-end web design

Desired Experience

  • Two to three years of experience as a Drupal developer
  • Experience contributing to free/open-source projects
  • Experience with Drupal’s Paragraphs and Commerce modules

What we offer

This position is fully remote and pays $100/hr. Ideally, we are seeking a retainer agreement for 10 hours/month. Any requests or projects exceeding the retainer would be discussed, planned, and agreed to by both parties separately at the same hourly rate.
