On October 29th, 2010 14 DC students from Oman and the US where brought together for a day to learn about each others' history and culture. Seven American students familiar with Oman through studies or travel and seven Omani students studying at Georgetown, American or George Mason Universities were provided lunch by SQCC and an opportunity to introduce themselves. After lunch the group embarked on a day trip to Mount Vernon, touring the site of George Washington’s home and farms. The day concluded at SQCC with a dinner of traditional Omani food including rice biryani and mishkak (BBQ) meats. Both groups benefited from the opportunity to experience culture and company both familiar and new.
