A Rift in Time: Travels with my Ottoman Uncle

Raja Shehadeh is a Palestinian lawyer, author and founder of the pioneering, nonpartisan human rights organization Al-Haq. He has authored several books about international law, human rights, and the Middle East including Palestinian Walks: Forays into a Vanishing Landscape, for which he won the UK Orwell Prize.

In A Rift in Time: Travels with my Ottoman Uncle Mr. Shehadeh follows the story of his great-great uncle Najib, a journalist living in Palestine under the Ottoman empire who was forced into hiding after receiving a death sentence for expressing opposition to Ottoman involvement in the first world war.
