Amira Howeidy is an Egyptian journalist who has been based in Cairo since 1993. She has published extensively on Egypt’s domestic scene and dissent movements, Palestinian rights, and Algeria’s post 1992 armed conflict. Amira co-founded the news portal Ahram Online in 2010 and was the Cairo correspondent of the Lebanese daily Assafir until 2012. Currently she is the deputy editor of Al-Ahram Weekly newspaper.
