Hala Shukrallah is president of Egypt’s Al-Dostour (Constitution) Party, founded in 2012 by Mohammed ElBaradei and a group of Egyptian intellectuals and activists. Shukrallah succeeded ElBaradei in February 2014, becoming the first woman to lead an Egyptian political party. She is also director of the Development Support Center, a consultancy firm providing support to civil society organizations. As president of the Constitution Party, Shukrallah has called for justice for political prisoners, removal of the protest law, and limits on the role of the military in government. She is a graduate of Cairo University and the University of Sussex, and a Ph.D candidate at the University College of London.
