  Monica Komer is an intern at the Middle East Institute. She is pursuing dual degrees in international studies and journalism, with Arabic and Middle Eastern studies minors, as an honors student at Miami University of Ohio. Her writing has appeared in: The Miami Student, Love & Honors eNewsletter, and connectedincairo.com. At Miami University, she is completing research on new media in the Middle East. Previously, she studied Arabic in Morocco as a National Security Language Initiative scholar.
