Maheen Safian is the Events Coordinator at the Middle East Institute. She aids in the coordination and execution of all MEI programming and events alongside the Senior Event Coordinator. Prior to this position, she has served as Sustainable Development Advisor at the Pakistan Mission to the UN, where she represented Pakistan at General Assembly meetings, and reported on various other UN sessions and engagements. She has experience in grassroots planning and event organizing, from being in positions such as Peace Action Campus Organizer at Hofstra University, to being former Director of Special Events and Programming at the American University, School of International Service Undergraduate Council.
Her research focus includes U.S- Taliban relations, alongside U.S.-Pakistan relations. She has published "U.S.-Taliban Relations From a Realist Lens" during her term as a Marcellus Fellow with the John Quincy Adams Society.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the School of International Service, American University with a primary degree focus in American Foreign Policy and National Security, and a secondary focus in Peace and Conflict Resolution.
