Scott Benedict is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Major General who last served as the Commanding General of Second Marine Aircraft Wing.  He entered service at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1986, and his career as a Marine Corps Officer and Naval Aviator spanned over 34 years./p>

Scott commanded at all levels as a Marine Aviator including multiple overseas deployments where he successfully led forces in combat, contingencies and crises from the land and the sea. He also had an uncommonly rich and diverse career experience outside of command spanning the operational, strategic, diplomatic, political, and acquisition arenas.  

His field grade commands included the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU); the first rotation of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Crisis Response (SPMAGTF-CR) Africa; and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 367 - all of which deployed to the Middle East and Horn of Africa regions.

Scott’s Joint assignments included service as the Director, Strategy, Plans and Policy (J-5) at U. S. Central Command; the Director Politico-Military Affairs, Middle East, within the Joint Staff J-5; Special Assistant to the Assistant Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff  (where he traveled as part of the Secretary of State's travel team); and as the Chief of Policy and Assessment Branch, Joint Staff J-5, Joint Operational War Plans Division.

Scott is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy; the U.S. Naval War College; the Marine Corps War College; Royal Defense Studies College London, England - Rising Leaders Forum 2018; and the MIT Seminar XXI fellowship program.
