Vinay Kaura is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Affairs and Security Studies, Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Rajasthan, India. He is also the Deputy Director of University’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies; in this position, he coordinates long-term research and training programs for mid-level police professionals in India’s federal and state police organizations.

He is an adjunct professor on the Program on Terrorism and Security Studies (PTSS) at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Germany. Besides, he is an alumnus of the NESA Center, National Defence University at Washington, DC.

Having Masters’ degrees in History and Political Science, Vinay obtained his doctorate on Afghanistan-Pakistan relations with special reference to Islamic fundamentalist terrorism. His current research interests include Afghanistan-Pakistan relations, counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency, conflict management and resolution, India’s foreign policy and the geopolitics of Indo-Pacific. He is particularly interested in how political and cultural perspectives shape approaches to national security and foreign policy.

Vinay has written for a range of international publications, including Foreign Policy, South China Morning Post, and The Diplomat and his scholarly articles have appeared in Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, RUSI Journal, India Quarterly, Israel Affairs and Central European Journal of International and Security Studies. In addition to academic writing, he has produced policy-relevant research and analysis on a broad array of subjects including institutional reforms, strategic communications and public diplomacy.
