Bård Helge Kårtveit is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages at the University of Oslo. He earned his doctorate in Social Anthropology from the University of Bergen (2010), where his research focused on Christian-Muslim relations in Palestine. He was a Senior Lecturer in Middle East Studies at the University of Oslo (2010–2011, 2013). His research there includes a project titled “Being a Coptic man. Masculinity, gender relations and boundary maintenance among Egyptian Copts.” He is the author of Dilemmas of attachment. Identity and belonging among Palestinian Christians (Brill Academic Publishing, 2014). His research interests include nationalism, identity, migration, masculinity, gender and family relations in the Middle East.
