Raed Ahmed is a PhD candidate at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his MA degree in political science at the University of Baghdad, Iraq in 2005 and worked as an instructor at Iraqi University, Baghdad from 2006-2013.

His areas of interest are political developments in the Middle East and North Africa region, and he focuses on issues such as the Arab Spring, regional rivalry, and democratization. He also follows diaspora and migration topics, especially regarding Arab/Muslim-Americans’ political attitudes and migration from Africa to Europe.

Ahmed has participated in many academic conferences, such as the Michigan Political Science Association, Midwest Political Science Association, International Studies Association-South, and the Middle East Studies Association annual meetings.
