Professor Shahram Akbarzadeh is the convener of the Middle East Studies Forum at Alfred Deakin Institute, Deakin University, Australia. He has held a prestigious ARC Future Fellowship on the role of Islam in Iran’s foreign policy making and is completing a project on proxy wars, sponsored by Carnegie Corporation NY. He is a prolific researcher on Iran’s relations with its neighbors. His latest publications include the Routledge Handbook of International Relations in the Middle East (2019).
