The Middle East Journal, MEI’s flagship publication and the oldest American journal devoted to the contemporary Middle East, will host a webinar featuring Alice Baudin and Karen E. Young, who will discuss their new MEJ essay, “Beyond the Iran War Shock: The Next Phase of Gulf-China Energy Ties.” China has a broad portfolio of interests across the Gulf. While the war with Iran has focused attention on China-Iran energy relations, Beijing is deeply involved not only in the region’s hydrocarbon sector but also in green energy and AI development. The discussion will explore China’s future role in the Gulf as Beijing works both to secure its energy supply and to reduce its reliance on oil. MEJ Editor Ariel I. Ahram will moderate.
