Iraq is undergoing a momentous transition that will shape its domestic and regional future. With a new prime minister only weeks into his term, direct connections to the ongoing war in Iran, and an uncertain role and status of assorted Iraqi militia groups, the next few months will prove consequential not only for Iraq but the Middle East more broadly. For its part, the United States has struggled to articulate a clear and comprehensive policy vis-à-vis Iraq and risks degrading its ties to this crucial regional partner as a result.
To discuss these important issues, the Middle East Institute will host an on-the-record webinar on June 18th, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm ET, featuring Dr. Ben Connable, Executive Director of the Battle Research Group, and Sarhang Hamasaeed, the former Director for Middle East programs at the US Institute of Peace. The discussion will be moderated by MEI Senior Fellow Dr. Jason Campbell.
