Afghanistan and Pakistan are among the most vulnerable countries to the adverse effects of climate change. Increased flash floods, drought, and mass displacement from extreme weather has exacerbated the existing socioeconomic and humanitarian issues facing both. However, the delicate relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan makes it difficult to sufficiently focus on environmental issues and to collaborate on mechanisms to combat deteriorating climate conditions.

What are common climate issues impacting Afghanistan and Pakistan? How is climate change impacting the existing situation and what are the broader strategic implications? What are the potential benefits of Afghanistan and Pakistan resolving their differences and cooperating on water sharing issues?
