Girijesh Pant is a Professor in the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and former Vice Chancellor of Doon University. He has been a member of the JNU faculty for over 30 years. Prior to joining JNU, tarted his career with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and then joined. His research interests include the Political Economy of Development, West Asia, International Energy Affairs, and Corporate Social Responsibility. He has been a Senior Fulbright Visiting Fellow at University of Illinois. Dr. Pant has contributed over 50 research papers and written and edited nine books on topics ranging from globalization and its ramification, development issues in Asian and African societies, Indian foreign economic policy, and West Asian economies, to energy Issues and India-Gulf economic relations. His other professional activities have included serving as Vice Chancellor, GGD University Bilaspur, Founder Member and Vice President of Indian Academy of Social Sciences, Member Standing Committee of Area Studies Programme of UGC, and Member Adisory Board, Third World Studies.
